Frequently Asked Questions

  • Absolutely! As a traveler you will have 100% say in what location and setting you apply and interview for. You will always get to speak with management on site before accepting a position to ask them any questions you might have about the specific job duties, caseload, orientation process and productivity expectations. We can help prepare you with sample interview questions if desired.

  • Assignments typically start at 13 weeks but are sometimes posted as 26 weeks. School assignments typically cover a full or half school year and will be specified in the listing. If you find yourself wanting to stay longer, there is often the opportunity to extend your contract if the need still exists. The maximum length to maintain your traveler tax status is 12 months.

  • We love this question, because we started traveling as new grads. You may hear talks of lack of mentorship, but the travel community has such great resources to help you succeed. Working alongside a variety of clinicians across the country, with different specialties and experiences, is another great opportunity for professional development. Keep in mind that not all clinics are open to training a new grad, so being open minded and flexible to location and setting for your first assignment is important as you grow your resume.

  • It is never too soon to reach out to introduce yourself or to start the research process to learn more. Typically jobs will post 4-6 weeks prior to desired start date, so we typically recommend reaching out 3-4 months before your targeted start date. This will give us time to discuss possible job options and get any necessary licensing processes started to make you a competitive applicant.

  • Absolutely! Having someone to travel with helps split housing costs and road-trip drive times! Finding 2 positions together can sometimes be a bit more challenging so keep in mind you might have to be more flexible as to where you’re willing to go but having a travel buddy can be worth the extra effort! If you are a solo traveler there are great resources to help get you connected with other travelers in each new location to help build a sense of community.

  • Definitely. We have traveled with two large dogs to twelve states and found pet friendly housing for each assignment. Be aware that pet friendly may come at a higher expense, but we can help with resources to find you and your pet a place to stay. *Most hospital based housing (if included in contract) may not allow pets.

  • Yes, typically if time off requests are pre-arranged with the facility before the interview, they generally are accepted. We advise you to try to plan trips that are longer than a week between assignments, whenever possible.
